October 2008 Newsletter
We are ff to a great start this fall! The atmosphere here at Creative Garden has become one of enthusiasm and positive energy. Our children are exploring, observing, creating, and learning about themselves and the world around them. What a wonderful way to welcome the busy month of October! Please mark your calendars with the dates listed below. Will have visitors from the fire and police departments (dates pending), and a field trip to the pumpkin patch for 3 and 4 yr olds. Plus, on the 31st, parents will be invited to our memorable Halloween parade. That Friday, if you arrive after 9:00 a.m., please dress your child in his/her Halloween costume. If your child arrives before 9:00, please send his/her costume in a bag.
Communication from your child’s teacher or the office will often come in the form of correspondence which can be found in your child’s cubby or classroom folder, so please be sure to check them daily. We would like to inform you of the progress your child is making in adjusting to our school by sending a written evaluation home the week of November 17.
Tech-Tots Computer Class
It’s not too late to enroll for our additional computer class if you have not already done so. Ms.Tara has already started the program, and the children love it. (Classes will be held every Thursday morning). Four weeks out of each month your child will receive a 30 minute session withaclass size of2-3 children.The cost is $45 per month, which will be included in your tuition. While playing games geared for children, the children will learn how to manipulate the mouse, as well as other valuable computer skills! Please see Robin or Shawn for an enrollment form.

October 31 Toddlers and 2's will have a "Pumpkin Patch" on the playground; cost is $2.50 per child.

October Curriculum Guidelines
Infant:
It’s October! This month we will read books about fire trucks, and Halloween. The songs we will sing are: “Five Little Pumpkins” and “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” The autumn weather will allow us to spend more time outside, getting some fresh air, and watching the leaves change colors. Infant C will have a ball painting fire hats, pumpkins, and ghosts!
* Infant C may participate in the Halloween Parade if parents bring costumes!
Toddler:
Our themes for October are Autumn, and Halloween. The colors that we’ll be working with are orange and black, and we are reviewing all shapes, colors, and letters. A trip to the Pumpkin Patch on the playground will be fun, and we will show off our Halloween costumes for the annual Halloween Parade! Our Halloween party will be on the 31st @ 12; 00. Watch for the sign-up to be posted on the door! Songs we will be singing are "Five Little Pumpkins" and “Wheels on the Bus.”
Young 2’s:
This months color will be orange, and our shape will be the circle. Our letters of the month are “Ee”, “Ff”, and “Tt”. Our learning themes during October are “Me and My Family”, and Halloween, Most of our art projects will be related to these themes. “Tres” and “Hola” will be the Spanish words this month. We will also practice saying the months and days of the week Our Halloween party will be on the 31st, so watch out for the sign-up!
2 Years:
Our units for the month of October are “Me and My Family”, and Halloween”. We are going to talk about how important families are, and we will also focus on fall, fire safety/prevention, and trick or treating. . We will do art projects to creatively express the things we are learning about. We will be working with the color orange, our shape, the circle, and number is 3. Our new letters for the month are Tt, Ee, and Ff. Our Spanish words will be “Hola” and “Tres”. Lastly, an important part of this month is our Halloween Parade and party on the 31st, which is fun, fun, fun for everyone!!
Young 3’s:
This month the young 3’s color will be orange, and the shape is a circle. Our letters are T,E, and I Keep an eye on our Spanish wall for our numbers and new Spanish words! Our learning themes for oct. will be fall/ autumn, Halloween,” Trick or Treat” Safety and fire safety. We are looking forward to our trip to the pumpkin patch, and our Halloween parade / party, so please keep an eye out for our sign-up sheets for volunteers.
Older 3’s:
October is filled with exciting themes and activities. Throughout the month we will learn about our families, fall, and Halloween. Special events this month include our field trip to the pumpkin patch, a spooky Halloween parade, and a spook-tacular Halloween party. The letters of the month will be posted on the monthly news board and the numbers of the month are 1-10. The color is Orange and the shapes are Circle and Square. Please sign up to drive to the pumpkin patch and also to bring in an item for our party.
4 Years:
The four year olds are looking forward to a fun and exciting month! The learning themes for the month of October will be My Family, Signs of Fall “Fire Safety”, Pumpkins and “Halloween We have many spooky art projects planned, and we can’t wait until the big Halloween Party. We’ll also be working on numbers 1-20, and we’ll be learning letters Hh,Ll, Pp,Ww and “Bb .Please reinforce these letters at home. We will also continue learning our sight words and numbers. On Monday the 13th we will be going to the pumpkin patch, please sign up to drive if you are available.
Don’t forget to send your little cutie to school in his/her Halloween costume on Friday, the 31st for our parade! Have a safe and happy October!
